Cid2Mizard has released a bugfix version of a DS homebrew that seems to have the same purpose as one of those World Cup wall charts.

This software gives you team info, stadium info and lets you keep track of scores from the championship.

iPlayer 3 coming to PS3

MCV is reporting that the BBC will be bringing their 3rd version of iPlayer to PS3 consoles.

The report also notes BBC’s praise to Sony for providing a high quality playback experience, as well as the statistics that 6% of all iPlayer viewers were using the PS3 version, compared to the Wii’s 4%.

Study shows cartoon characters attract kid to junk food products

CNN has posted an article detailing the effect having a cartoon character put onto product packaging has on the appeal of a product toward the younger age demographic.

The report shows the results of an experiment, where 40 children between the age of 4 and 6 were given two sets of crackers, gummies and carrots which were both identical except for the packaging which featured characters such as Shrek.

Over 50% of children thought the products with the cartoons on the packaging tasted better than the ones without, and roughly 3/4’s of the kids would choose the ones with cartoons on the packaging as a snack over the other generic package.

Microsoft’s Kinect Sensor priced at $149.99

The Kinect kit for XBOX360 has appeared for pre-order on Microsoft’s official store at $149.99.

This sensor add-on to the Microsoft console is for motion-detection, allowing games to be played without the use of any controller or buttons (games designed for this control method only, of course). The dual-camera sensor will allow the console to recognise your movements and even hand gestures.

Kinect was shown at E3 2009 under the codename “Natal”, but has since been refined and was shown again at this years E3 where it was formally named Kinect.
