RockNES is an NES emulator for Windows.
I took it for a quick spin, having not tried this particular emulator before. I threw Super Mario Bros. 3 at it. Gameplay was smooth, but the whole thing was sped up and due to a disappointing lack of configuration, I was unable to rectify this.
Changes:
- Fixed broken color emphasis calculation.
- Fixed a bug on APU reset.
- Fixed bitmap/screen clearing.
- Fixed keyboard buffer clearing call time.
- Fixed keyboard key status, immediate poll shouldn’t occur.
- Added a fix to make Famitracker NSF files compatible, no crashing.
- Added NSF header display information.
- Minor additions to the APU savestate, plus bug fixes.
- Changed the video timing system to something MUCH easier.
- Updated color emphasis’ table of coheficients.
- Cosmetic changes, minor fixes and cleanups.
- Documentation updated.
UberNES, a NES emulator for PC with online leaderboard features among others, has been updated.
Jnes is a NES emulator for win32 platforms that uses DirectX for it’s hardware interface. It’s emulation capabilities include graphics, sound, input devices, and emulating quite a few memory mapping boards found in most USA games and a few popular japanese ones. Jnes boasts a fairly intuitive user interface that makes playing NES a little more enjoyable. One of the coolest features is the included database of Pro-Action-Replay and Game Genie cheats.
