Sega’s mysterious Sonic game, codenamed Project Needlemouse, has been revealed to be Sonic The Hedgehog 4 – Episode 1.
The game is a continuation from the Sonic games of the 16bit era and will play in a similar way. Further episodes will be released later, spanning all major console platforms, with the XBOX360 and PS3 including 1080p support and the Wii supporting motion controls.
Coming to UK retailers this summer, this curiosity isn’t a Sega-made console, rather it’s a 3rd party machine that runs a built-in library of old Sega Megadrive games including the usual suspects Sonic, Ecco and Golden Axe.
Also part of the bundle are some motion sensitive games that make use of the wireless Wiimote clones. If you want to play other games on this system, it will also accept Megadrive cartridges.
The whole thing will supposedly retail in summer for around £50.
